Why KiteMood
Few things give you the same rush of adrenaline as riding a kite. You harness the power of the wind to glide across the water and soar high into the sky.
KiteMood is an IKO-approved kitesurfing school in the south of Marsa Alam, on a protected lagoon that is one of the best places to learn. Our lessons combine experience and up-to-date teaching methods with a strong focus on safety, so you can become a confident kitesurfer in a short time.
We have been giving kite lessons since 1998 and follow IKO's international quality and safety standards. We are passionate about the sport, and we love nothing more than sharing that passion.
The KiteMood lagoon has a very high chance of wind all year round. Check the conditions before you come: speeds are in knots and update automatically from a weather model. For the 24-hour forecast, see our wind forecast page.

See the tricks lessons →KiteMood is on a protected lagoon in the south of Marsa Alam, on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. It is only one hour from Marsa Alam airport and on the doorstep of many new low-rise 5-star resorts, yet the spot remains picturesque and unspoilt.
At the centre of the lagoon is the Blue Lagoon Resort. The Dream Lagoon and the Floriana Emerald Lagoon were added later, so there are now three resorts on the lagoon.
There are other spots in Marsa Alam, but we think this lagoon stands out for learning. It offers ideal wind conditions, and the coral reef shelters the lagoon.

Yes. KiteMood is an IKO-approved school; read more about KiteMood. We follow IKO guidelines in all our lessons, and all our instructors are trained and certified by IKO. We teach the first three groups of the IKO Kiteboarding Training Path: Discovery, Intermediate and Independent.
Yes. The lagoon is huge, with lots of space, flat water and a big standing area. The coral reef shelters it, and the tide changes it very little. The wind is quite stable, and the lagoon is windy almost all year round. We recommend shoes for beginners, because dead coral on a strip of rocky sand can be dangerous if you have to cross it.
